Trinamool workers, ex-councillor beaten with rods in Behala after polling ends

The conclusion of the second phase of voting in West Bengal was marred by violence in South Kolkata, specifically targeting Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and workers. In ward number 129 of Behala West, BJP-backed miscreants allegedly launched a brutal assault on a TMC party office using bricks and bamboo sticks.

The attack resulted in injuries to five individuals, including former councilor Anjan Das, whose head was broken during the scuffle after being hit by rods. Behala West candidate Ratna Chatterjee visited the site, attributing the violence to the BJP's fear of defeat and demanding the immediate arrest of all culprits.

The political atmosphere remains highly charged as TMC leadership accuses the central government of using security forces to vent frustration over a perceived lack of public support.
